Haaretz reported yesterday that, “Israel, Iran, Pakistan and North Korea were ranked most negatively by 24,000 people surveyed in an annual BBC poll.”

It would appear that in spite of the extensive Hasbara campaign and the Jewish lobby buying every morally lax living politician, people of the world increasingly see Israel for what it is.

The broad international survey was an initiative of the BBC World Service. Over 24,000 people from 22 countries took part in the poll, which was conducted from December 2011 to February 2012.

Haaretz confirms that the survey’s findings on global attitudes toward Israel are “worrying indeed.” Last year’s survey already confirmed that attitudes toward Israel were negative, but the situation has become more serious this year: Some 47% of participants in the 2011 survey had negative views of Israel’s influence on the world, but this year the number has gone up to 50%.

If Israel and Zionism were set initially to bring to the world a humanist civilised Jew, this poll results suggest that both Zionism and Israel failed completely. In spite of Israeli Hasbara, Jewish lobbying and the Jewish stronghold over the media, the people of the world, see the Jewish State negatively.

Some 50% percent of Americans that took part in the poll said they had a favorable view of Israel. Yet, with just half of the American people seeing Israel favourably, the blunt support of America’s political system of Israel is staggering and pretty revealing.

In Europe, Israel is losing popularity rapidly. Some 74% of Spanish respondents (an increase of 8% from last year) and 56% of French respondents (an increase of 9%), see Israel in a negative light. In spite of their guilt and the heavy pro Israeli indoctrination, 69% of German respondents see Israel negatively. And in Britain, despite the embarrassing fact that 80% of our Tory MPs are Conservative Friends of Israel, 68% of the Brits are not at all friendly towards the Jewish State.

In emerging economies, people also have some problems with Israel. According to the poll. 45% of Chinese participants, 58% of Brazilians and 29% of Indians have negative views of Israel, and the number of Israel sympathizers in these countries is markedly low.

The survey also found that in Russia, which last year stood out as a country where public opinion of Israel was positive, only 25% of Russian participants had positive views of Israel this year, compared to 26% who see Israel in a negative light. This is not very surprising bearing in mind that 7 out of 8 Russian oligarchs are Jews possessing with Israeli citizenship.

Israel may want to consider changing its path immediately. Rather than investing in Hasbara and extensive Jewish lobbying, it may want to open its eyes to the prospect of humanism and peace because it appears that humanity clearly shows some real signs of fatigue towards the ‘Jews only State’.

The U.S. should end all aid to Israel if it attacks Iran, former U.S. Senator James Abourezk says.

It should “tell Israel outright that both American money and American political and military support will end should it decide to drag America into another Middle East war as it did in Iraq,” Abourezk wrote in an article published by the Council for the National Interest.

The former Democratic senator, now practicing law in Sioux Falls, S.D., wrote, “if Israel attacks, America will be blamed for it…because we furnish money and weapons and protection in the U.N.for Israel, such collaboration would be difficult for us to deny.”

“We are talking here about saving American lives, and saving our economy, which will surely go deep into the tank when crude oil prices spike to unheard-of levels as a result of such an attack,” Abourezk wrote in an article distributed on Internet site Information Clearing House.

“It is my view,” he continued, “that (Israeli Prime Minister) Bibi (Benjamin) Netanyanu would drop the question of an Iranian threat once he has to consider the greater threat posed by the U.S. cutting off the gift of billions of dollars each year.”

Abourezk concluded, “It’s a question of whether our elected leaders will protect Americans or Israel. Surely it’s not too much to ask that they put their own country first.” Abourezk was the first Arab-American to serve in the Senate. First elected to the House of Representatives, his term in the Senate spanned the 1973-79 period.

An eloquent argument for terminating aid to Israel even if it does not start a war of aggression against Iran has also been made by American philosopher Todd May of Clemson University, S.C. He argues for an aid cutoff based on Israeli treatment of Palestinians.

“There are several simple, but compelling reasons, for Americans to support such a proposal,” he wrote on the website Mediamediators.net, a decade ago. “First and foremost, by squandering the aid we have given Israel over the years (nearly five billion dollars a year, including incidentals) in the massive violation of the human rights, autonomy, and dignity of another people, Israel has forfeited any claim it might have to that aid.”

“Regardless of the individual acts of desperation and terrorism that some Palestinians commit,” May continued, “the overwhelming destructiveness that Israel has performed on the Palestinian people for the last thirty-five years demonstrates that its goal has always been, and remains, the dominance of another people.”

“The U.S. should not be aiding Israel no more than it should have been aiding South Africa under apartheid, Iran under the Shah, Iraq’s Saddam during his war with Iran, Cambodia under Pol Pot, or Indonesia during its campaign against the East Timorese,” May said.

May concluded, “Given that aid to Israel supports a policy that runs afoul of basic human rights, wastes billions of dollars a year in taxpayer money, and is inimical to U.S. interests, we ought to end it.”

HUFPO — German Nobel literature laureate Guenter Grass labeled Israel a threat to “already fragile world peace” in a poem published Wednesday that drew sharp rebukes at home and from Israel.

In the poem titled “What must be said,” published in German daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung and Italy’s La Repubblica among others, Grass criticized what he described as Western hypocrisy over Israel’s own suspected nuclear program amid speculation that it might engage in military action against Iran to stop it building a suspected atomic bomb.

The 84-year-old Grass said he had been prompted to put pen to paper by Berlin’s recent decision to sell Israel a submarine able to “send all-destroying warheads where the existence of a single nuclear bomb is unproven.”

“The nuclear power Israel is endangering the already fragile world peace,” he wrote. His poem specifically criticized Israel’s “claim to the right of a first strike” against Iran.

Grass also called for “unhindered and permanent control of Israel’s nuclear capability and Iran’s atomic facilities through an international body.”

Israel views Iran as a threat to its existence, citing among other things some Iranian calls for its destruction and fears that Iran aims to produce nuclear weapons.

Grass didn’t mention those calls, which have been made by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but obliquely referred to the Iranian people being “subjugated by a loudmouth.”

Israel is widely believed to have an arsenal of nuclear weapons but has never admitted it, pursuing instead an official policy of “ambiguity” to deter potential attackers.

DOLPHIN SUBMARINE — Now the two countries have agreed that Israel may buy the sixth submarine, with Germany helping to finance a third of the whopping $528-million price tag that makes the vessel one of the world’s most expensive war machines. LA /TIMES

Israel currently has three Dolphin submarines from Germany – one half-funded and two entirely funded by Berlin – two more are currently under construction, and the contract for a sixth submarine was signed last month.

Dolphin-class submarines can carry nuclear-tipped missiles, but there’s no evidence Israel has armed them with such weapons.

The West sees Iran’s nuclear program as designed to develop an atomic bomb, but Tehran denies the charge, saying an expansion of its enrichment program is meant only to provide nuclear fuel.

Grass said he long kept silent on Israel’s own nuclear program because his country committed “crimes that are without comparison,” but he has come to see that silence as a “burdensome lie and a coercion” whose disregard carries a punishment – “the verdict ‘anti-Semitism’ is commonly used.”

The left-leaning Grass established himself as a leading literary figure with “The Tin Drum,” published in 1959, and won the Nobel Prize in 1999. He urged fellow Germans to confront their painful Nazi history in the decades after World War II.

However, his image suffered a bruising when he admitted in his 2006 autobiography that he was drafted into the Waffen-SS, the combat arm of the Nazis’ paramilitary organization, in the final months of World War II.

Grass’ comments swiftly drew sharp criticism Wednesday.

“What must also be said is that Israel is the world’s only nation whose right to exist is publicly questioned,” the Israeli Embassy in Germany said in a statement. “We want to live in peace with our neighbors in the region.”

“Guenter Grass is turning the situation upside-down by defending a brutal regime that not only disregards but openly violates international agreements for many years,” said Deidre Berger, director of the American Jewish Committee in Berlin.

“Iran is the threat for world peace – and Israel the only democracy in the entire region, and at the same time the world’s only whose right to exist is openly questioned,” said Charlotte Knobloch, a former leader of Germany’s Jewish community.

Efraim Zuroff, who leads the Nazi-hunting Simon Wiesenthal Center in Jerusalem, called Grass’ poem “outrageous,” adding it appeared to be a sign of Israel “becoming the whipping boy for the frustrations of those who are sick of hearing about the Holocaust.”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is a staunch ally of Israel, and her spokesman reacted coolly to Grass’ remarks.

“There is artistic freedom in Germany, and there thankfully also is the freedom of the government not to have to comment on every artistic production,” Steffen Seibert said.

The head of the German Parliament’s foreign affairs committee – lawmaker Ruprecht Polenz, a member of Merkel’s Christian Democrats – told the daily Mitteldeutsche Zeitung that Grass is a great author “but he always has difficulties when he speak about politics and mostly gets it wrong.”

“The country that worries us is Iran,” he was quoted as saying, adding that “his poem distracts attention from that.”

Grass’ assistant Hilke Ohsoling told German news agency dapd Wednesday that the author won’t explain or defend his poem, nor does he plan to comment on the reactions in the near future because of health issues.

The self-named Bonus Expeditionary Force was an assemblage of some 43000 marchers—17000 World War I veterans, their families, and affiliated groups—who protested in Washington, DC, in the spring and summer of 1932. Called the Bonus March by the news media, the Bonus Marchers were more popularly known as the Bonus Army. It was led by Walter W. Waters, a former Army sergeant. The veterans were encouraged in their demand for immediate cash-payment redemption of their service certificates by retired Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler, one of the most popular military figures of the time. A collection of over 200 historical newsreels. Each newsreel runs approximately 3 minutes and covers the most important events of the first half of the 20th century.

Actions speak louder than words. The actions of U.S. politicians let us know their number one concern is not their constituents. And it’s not America. Their number one concern is pleasing the very powerful Israel lobby.

A good example of this is the U.S. Senator from Florida, Marco Rubio. Within days of being elected to the United States Senate he went to the Jewish state of Israel! You would think that with the United States being in an economic depression, and with Rubio’s home state of Florida having an unemployment rate higher than the national average, his priority would be to immediately start working to bring jobs in to his state and to strengthen the U.S. economy, not visit a foreign country.

Another example of a political whore sucking up to Israel and its too powerful lobby is Newt Gingrich. What is Newt’s top priority if he becomes President?

newt gingrich jew skull cap

Newt and the other political whores know who to pray to – the Israel lobby!

Is it to stop the loss of American jobs due to corporate greed and outsourcing? Is it to bring the banksters and their Wall Street cohorts who’ve plundered the savings and 401k retirement accounts of countless Americans to justice? Or is it to help the homeless veterans and children and families living in their cars or on the streets of America? NO! Newt’s top priority is to move the American embassy in Israel to Jerusalem!!!

The Yeshiva World reports that the first thing Newt says he’ll do on the very first day he is President is to move the U.S. embassy to the international city of Jerusalem. Newt’s pro-Israel priority is crystal clear. The article reads, “The National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) today praised Republican Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich for his pledge to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem in the event that he becomes President of the United States.  If elected President, Gingrich committed that he would issue an executive order on his first day in office directing that the U.S. embassy in Israel be relocated from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.”

Newt says that Israel has the “right to choose its own capital.” What Newt seems to forget, or ignore, is Jerusalem is NOT a part of Israel. Israel choosing Jerusalem as its capital is like Mexico choosing Austin, Texas as its capital. Israel is the occupier of Jerusalem. And as the occupier of Jerusalem, the Jewish state is in violation of United Nations Resolution 478. In fact, Israel is in violation of more U.N. resolutions than all other countries combined!

Starting with George H.W. Bush through Obama, U.S. politicians have used violations of U.N. resolutions as excuses to start wars. This was done in the first Gulf war and it was done to start the unnecessary deadly and expensive war in Iraq. Obama will probably use it to start a war with Israel’s remaining two regional enemies of Syria and Iran. Since violation of U.N. resolutions are what wars are started over, isn’t it past time for America to invade Israel???

Remember back in 1982 when Israel withheld information that could have saved the lives of 241 U.S. Marines who were unnecessarily killed in Lebanon

US Marine backed down three jew tanks

A cartoon about USMC Captain Charles Johnson forcing three Israeli thanks to retreat.

(read the important book about the Mossad by a Mossad insider, By Way of Deception)? In that same time period and during that same Israeli invasion of Lebanon, one United States Marine Captain, Charles Johnson, forced three Israeli tanks to retreat while only using his 45! American forces could neutralize Israeli forces in a matter of weeks. (Here is a link to a more in-depth look at how Israel harassed our Marines and put their lives in danger for their own selfish reasons.)

All the pain and suffering the politicians cause America and the world by starting wars for Israel’s benefit, which is done to benefit their own selfish political careers, would be avoided if America followed the advice of the American founder and Deist George Washington. On several occasions Washington warned America against showing favoritism towards other nations as the U.S. now does towards Israel. Washington said, “My policy has been, and will continue to be, while I have the honor to remain in the administration of the government, to be upon friendly terms with, but independent of, all the nations of the earth. To share in the broils of none. To fulfill our own engagements. To supply the wants, and be carriers for them all: Being thoroughly convinced that it is our policy and interest to do so.”

I consider it a source of pride, being on the attack lists of the SPLC, ADL and most Nazi groups at the same time.  It makes me feel…American.  Veterans Today, perhaps, and I consider it accidental, the most influential independent news source in the world, actually could very well be a Jewish publication.

We are liberal, progressive, multi-cultural and easily have the best educated and most experience writing and editorial staff anywhere.  Why, you might ask?  We are the folks who know the games, the manipulation, in fact, some of us are those who invented the games.  We just aren’t playing anymore.

Why does this make us an enemy of the ADL, even though we are quite “Jewish friendly” and on the hate lists of the knuckle-draggers, the phony Dominionists and Evangelists, the Supremacists and the Neocons?  You don’t know who Dominionists are and how they hate Jews?  Learn the history of Mikey Weinstein and his war against this group.  This is a real history lesson.

It isn’t me that is that should be asking this question, I already know the answer.

Let’s cut to the chase.  We supported Obama.  78% of American Jews voted for Obama.  His relationship with Netanyahu is, at best, extremely bad.  However, if you are a Jewish American and follow the real news in Israel, you know folks are leaving, the economy is all arms and military,  Russian non-Jews are loading up the country and young Jews there are facing worse economic and housing issues than in America, much much worse.

Netanyahu and his gang of economic cutthroats and morons did this.  They were busy playing “Masters of the Universe” with the right wing nutcases in America, stoked to the gills with delusions of empire and have now backed themselves into a corner.

I am not saying Israel is insecure.  You know over half of those slated for IDF service now politely decline.  What you may not know is the games, games within games, games in Syria with Assad, games with Gaddafi, games with Mubarak, secret deals with the Saudis, and even deals cut with the Mullah’s of Iran.

There are also deals in Russia.

What do I call this?  “Too much time on their hands and too little common sense.”

Let’s get some facts straight.  The real Jewish homeland has always been America.  For once in his life, Abe Foxman, the snake oil salesman that runs the ADL is right, antisemitism is on the rise in America.

He isn’t totally responsible but he is to some extent.  His industry is “antisemitism.”  Sometimes you want something, you get it and you are sorry.

The SPLC is the same way but even crazier and greedier.  I won’t explain who they are, you will know.

Let’s take a second to talk about the Palestinian issue.  If you grew up here or in Israel, the history you were taught is false.  If you want to know your history, go to Uri Avenery.  Nobody has clean hands, live with it.  But lying is its own danger.  Believing lies is worse, it cripples your intellect.

The best solution is to reintegrate Palestinians, a great people with tremendous commercial and economic skills, into Israel.  This is what is best for Jews.  Today, nearly a million foreign workers are in Israel, some for generations.  This is simply not sustainable but also reflects human tragedy.

Then we have the changing world.

Europe is coming apart.  Putin is failing in Russia.  China is less economically viable than seen.  India is the same, much less resilient than guessed.

The “neighborhood,” Egypt in particular is going to have an Islamist government bought and paid for by Saudi Arabia.  This is bad for everyone though the Muslim Brotherhood can be dealt with.  Look on this as one of those failures that the “Masters of the Universe” didn’t plan for.

The real answer for Gaza, with a new Egyptian government, is to bring in an independent peace keeping force, if possible, American.  This isn’t something stated casually but something for very serious consideration.  If America is going to spend “trillions” guaranteeing the safety of Israel, then take them up on it.

In the process, we can also correct real injustices against the Palestinian people and create a generation of security.

This will be opposed by many, war is profitable and there are more than a few delusional types that love telling scary bedtime stories.  Time they are put on the medication they have required all along instead of running the world.

The biggest disaster is America.

America is at risk.  The big money and I mean Jewish big money is behind Newt Gingrich, curiously the candidate of the great antisemitic renewal as well.  But then, he is such a smart guy, isn’t he?

What isn’t be addressed, not sanely anyway, are the multiple currency collapses that have been purposefully engineered since 9/11.  Our “Masters of the Universe” threw in with the Neocons on 9/11.  If you have been told different, please give this a moment of thought.  Why has “9/11″ become a bigger “third rail issue” for some than “holocaust denial?”

The “greater Israel” Likudists jumped right into that one, believing it would all be over in 2 years, Afghanistan, Iraq and then a quick overthrow of the Mullah’s in Iran, backed up by an under the table deal with the Russians.  If all of this sounds “implausible,” find someone, perhaps a relative, who is “connected.”  This isn’t conjecture, it is all highly classified stuff that we are hiding in plain sight.  I do so love deniability at times.

Here is the advisable plan for the US:

  • Reassemble traditional alliances, Jews, Unions, African-Americans, intellectuals and professionals behind democrats
  • Hijack the nomination process, gutting the “dems” who have become nearly as corrupt as the Republicans if such a thing were actually possible
  • Have the Zionist extremists, the PNAC, Koch, Murdoch folks “talked to” about their love affair with what we will call “the Nazis”
  • Reach out to Ron Paul, the only legitimate Republican candidate
  • Recognize that if the AIPAC lobby can buy congress, others can, do and will.  The results will not be “acceptable” to any.

What we have learned, however, as soon as a Jew, let’s say Gilad Atzmon, begins what we have all been taught from birth as an intellectual dialog, we see Alan Dershowitz or others come out of the woodwork like cockroaches to silence them.

A test for any hypothesis is simple.  It is like a test of sanity.  To me a crazy person is someone who keeps doing the same thing and expects it to work out differently.

Admit it or not, Israel has a stranglehold on the American congress, that and more, the media as well.  But is this a Jewish influence or the influence of groups representing themselves as “Jewish” but totally lacking in Jewish values and traditions?  Look at the results:

  • Antisemitism is on the rise worldwide, not among Muslims but rather in Europe and America.  Jews are being blamed for the wars, the economic disasters, blamed because so many Jewish names, aligned with political extremists on the right or Christian fanatics of the various Apocalypse death cults have sought to tap into Jewish political power and media influence through pretending to “support Israel.”
  • Traditional Jewish values, human rights, social advancement, racial equality have been thrown to the wind by extremists in Israel who have set up an apartheid state, one they believed they could hide from the world by intimidating the press through continual holocaust references and childish charges of antisemitism.
  • Israel itself has been compromised, made economically unviable, turned into a divided “police state” with controlled press, an intimidated population and a dependence on mythology and propaganda.

What are the solutions?

  • There will be no Israel without a strong United States.  It has to be clear to a blind man that both nations have slipped into totalitarianism and have governments under the control of a globalist conspiracy.  Dealing with what is a hypothesis that survives any rational experimental process should lead to a reality based solution.  Ending the lying is a good start.
  • Religious extremism is simply a tool of dehumanization, one carefully wielded by that conspiracy we pretend doesn’t exist but has left its tracks everywhere.  Do I need to make another point here?
  • Egypt, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan are critical issues to world security.  Israel has a surprisingly good relationship with the only Islamic nuclear power, Pakistan.  However, the relationship with Turkey has suffered because of the insane acts of Likudist militarists.  Egypt is the same.  Both need to be addressed and the US should have supplied the required leadership.
  • American leadership, something vital to Israel, has been undermined by plotters claiming to be “Zionists” but who are simply financial criminals at heart.  Their control of what had been healthy dialog has been aided by the ADL and other organization who have clearly lost their way.  Isn’t it time “smart people” began setting the tone of things, not just bullies and bigots?
  • Time we all admitted that the Iranian “situation” is a total scam, there are no legitimate threats against Israel or anyone else and this is a game of profit, arms, oil manipulation and playing “boogeyman” with the knuckle-draggers.  A good lawyer knows never to ask a question in court where he doesn’t know the answer.  As for Iran, that game is dead, done, over, gone.  It is now a potential threat to world currencies, playing “Iran,” a chance to make big money in oil futures and crash the Euro and serious undermine the dollar at the same time.  End result:  chaos, not the “theory” kind.

I am not so naive as to ask anyone to disarm to trust without strength and guarantees.  However, any rational person can look around them and realize they are in a burning building.

Why would anyone turn to someone who sees gasoline as a way of putting out fires?

…and so it goes…

The news is reporting, every station, every paper, that America is preparing an invasion of Iran, a country with nearly 100 million citizens.  The reason?  Israel is demanding it.  We are told that new reports of nuclear weapons in Iran are going to be released as soon as Israel is finished writing them for us.

We support this war but want its costs shared.  Thus, we have a plan to protect Israel, win the war and bring Americans together again.

We invaded Iraq for Israel but they declined to participate.  This time, we expect the entire Israeli army to move into Iraq and lead the attack themselves.  American units leading the way will be entirely Jewish also, as soon as they have enlisted or are drafted.  Following them will be the sons and daughters of our government, congress, the varying branches, in fact no member of our services that has participated in the Global War on Terror in any way can be allowed to fight another way.

They have given too much.

The new army will be paid like the one that fought in Vietnam.  Pay will start at $90 dollars a month with combat pay for noncommissioned officers with families as high as $220 per month.  We are told that congress plans to eliminate veterans benefits, cut military retirement and scrap Tricare.  Wasn’t all that just more “socialism” anyway?

As to who will be flying our planes or on our ships, I am not sure.  As I have said, those who have served are excluded from this war.  They fought one war, some actually three wars for Israel, none of which worked out for America in any way.

In order to fight for Israel, we have to define Israel.  As it can’t technically be a nation without borders or laws, things Israel doesn’t actually have yet, it will have to establish a border and adopt a constitution, one that falls in line with normal human rights.  Thus far, this is a problem.  There are two sets of laws in Israel, actually 3.  One set is for Jews, the other for Gentiles.  Then they have a religious law that oversees all of it, much like Sharia Law in Iran, actually almost identical to it.

America will have to have permanent bases in Israel, 99 year leases, like we have with our other allies.  Thus far, though even Saudi Arabia allows American bases, Israeli law has forbidden Gentile soldiers on their land.  Americans can fight and die for Israel but not stop onto Israeli soil, as their religious law lists such an act as “defilement.”

Our first step toward financing the war will be to end all retirement funds for members of congress.  All health insurance, really “socialism” to me, will end for government workers.  They will have to pay out of their savings.  If they didn’t save, they will have to “make do” like other Americans.

Members of congress will be paid $1 dollar a year.

All legislative and White House staff will be paid an average American wage, $8.25 per hour with no benefits other than Social Security.  The government’s private retirement system will be seized.

Gasoline will be taken to $5.00 per gallon and rationed to 10 gallons a week per family.  There will be massive shortages as 40% of the world’s oil supply will disappear overnight.

Oil companies will be nationalized for the duration of the war, their executives paid $1 dollar a year.

There will be no profits allowed for companies selling goods and services to the military and government.  All senior management at those companies will also earn only $1 dollar per year.

If these ideas sound familiar, they are Marine Corps ideas, originating from Medal of Honor winner, General Smedley Butler, America’s greatest hero.

We know American Jews will be the first in line to join, no question about that but, in order to avoid suspicion and difficulty, perhaps even misunderstanding, their units will be separate, they will enter service first.  There are reasons for that.

They require a Kosher diet.  Many, tens of thousands, are already IDF trained and we are certain they, with their extreme patriotism for both America and Israel, will want to put themselves in harms way before anyone else.

I would do nothing to interfere with that.

While Israeli troops, including all Israeli males and females between 17 and 55, move into Iraq to the Iranian border, Americans will take up positions defending Israel from the expected onslaught of rock throwing children in Gaza and other threats.

We accept that risk.

Areas of high risk, such as the West Bank, will have to be evacuated of course.

Our next step will be to escort the Israeli Navy into the Persian Gulf.  We will agree to sell Israel for $1 dollar, 3 of our older decommissioned nuclear carriers.

After Israel begins the invasion, a few months later, the newly trained draftees will join them, certainly in less than a year.

With Israel fielding an army of 2.5 million and 4 million American draftees against 13.5 million armed Iranians, I think we have the making of a repeat of the 1980s and the Iraq/Iran War but with a more just sharing of risk and America, for the first time since World War II, taking on the real feel of a nation at war.

Eventually America will have to draft 20 million as the permanent occupation of Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan will eventually be a boon to America’s economy, all those new $30 dollar a week jobs.  I remember months in the Marine Corps where my net monthly pay, after dry cleaning and other hidden fees was $50 dollars.  Thank goodness I didn’t smoke, though cigarettes were 10 cents a pack.  In Vietnam, we didn’t have much dry cleaning and the bullets were free.

Imagine the Ivy League universities emptied, now filled with the veterans of the Global War on Terror, taking the places of the sons and daughters of the bankster elite.

Imagine a thinner and healthier America with garden plots everywhere, no more sugar, no fast food restaurants open, no more traffic jams, no more vacations.

Airlines will only carry essential military personnel.  Anyone with business to do can use Skype.  Hotels are for military only, no more vacations, not until every American soldier is returned home.

No country clubs, no fuel for yachts or private planes, if we are going to have a war, then it is going to be a war.

One thing I keep forgetting.  Do we get to vote which side we will fight on?

TWO MAPS SHOW ISRAEL OR JUDEA, MANY MORE SHOW NEITHER

By Gordon Duff, Senior Editor

No surprise to anyone, but there is no reliable history of the Jewish people.  It isn’t just them, when it comes down to history, everyone lies.  I have been on “government sponsored” tours of sites all over the world.  I have had French tell me a Roman ruin from 100AD was built by a French king 300 years ago.  In Hungary, Roman ruins are dated a thousand years or more after they were built, to support a heritage that never happened.  Entire religions, entire historical epochs are erased, cleansed from history.  History is a liar.

The lies of history are peddled by universities funded by more liars, liars and thieves buying more lies from more liars and thieves.  In the last 20 years, television documentaries have debunked 75% of what we have accepted as history and done so with scholarship “above the norm.”  What is the “norm?”  A historical fact is any lie that has more than two people agree to it.  What historians call “fact,” any cop would call a “shaky alibi.”

There is no bigger historical liar than the history of Judea, the Roman province that now includes a state Jews choose to call Israel.

With a UN vote coming up that President Obama has promised to veto, a vote giving what may actually be the majority from that region national rights they have been denied, we are talking about the Palestinians, there are suggestions for “talks.”

There can be no talks because there is no basis for talks.  Talks are based on ideas and understandings and the history of the region, be it from 1948 onward on since Exodus and the Egyptian escape, is all total bull, invented mythology made up to support wild claims or simply entertain.

Jews are told Palestinians are terrorists because of a version of the 1948 war that Israel teaches their people and is taught in America because of Israeli influence.  It is false.  The Suez Canal war of 1956 isn’t taught either.  Many incidents such as the Lavon Affair and the USS Liberty are simply erased because they don’t fit.  That Israel staged the 1967 war as a sneak attack on Egypt, done with considerable help from the US, Britain and France, is another historical secret as is the 1973 war when Israel was kept afloat by the entire military strength of the United States.  Why do you think the Arabs cut off America’s oil?  It was because America sent its military to defend Israel when the Arabs tried to get the land back that was stolen during the sneak attack of 1967?
If much of this is strange to you, you have an Orwellian education, meaning “no education  at all.”

We could start with 1948.  Palestinians owned Palestine along with some Jews and Christians.  Europeans of Jewish faith, armed to the teeth by the US, France and Britain, invaded and pushed the Palestinians off their land.  Fighting back is called “terrorism.”

This is simple historical truth.  Problem is, until Israelis and Americans are willing to accept the real truth, they can never talk to anyone.  Who wants to talk to a deluded bigot?

It gets worse, not just for Jews.  Muslims and Christians are ‘full of it’ as well.

First of all, there is no historical proof that any “Israeli” kingdom ever existed anywhere.  There is no proof, despite decades of “faith based” archeology, phony science, phony history and phony propaganda that Moses or Noah or Abraham ever existed.

In fact, the “holy texts” were long proven forgeries, invented to justify land theft, wild stories of angels and gods giving things away, wildly contradictory, childish in scope and unsupported by science, by evidence and even reason.  “They made it all up.”

What is represented as the “tribes of Israel” was a minor group of largely polytheistic tribes at war with each other and anyone, one of dozens of such groups, who disappeared from the sands of time.  Wild stories that talk of magical beings giving them land and power, not entirely different from the writings of Homer, don’t change that.  Homer wrote much better.

Things we know.  When the crusaders came to Jerusalem in the 1096, there were no Jews there.  There were lots of Christians, however.  You see, until 650AD, Judea had been entirely Christian, meaning everyone who lived there was Christian.  This was part of the Byzantine/Roman empire which had, controlled the region for many centuries.  Back in the early 300s, Constantine legalized Christianity and, in the process, made it illegal for Jews to hold Christian slaves.

Why was this an issue?  Try finding out.  History erased all of that, the same history that parted the Red Sea.  Between 135AD and 350AD, Jews and Christians in the Middle East hated each other.  The Christians, most at least, had actually been Jews who converted.  It is part of that “Christ’ thing we call “Christianity” today.  You remember, the “messiah” thing?

History tells us that Jews fought the Romans during the first century, ending 73AD or so.  Then they all got on boats and went elsewhere in the Roman empire with a few staying behind.

However, there are no records of any of this.  No records of them leaving.  No records of them arriving.

No records of them living anywhere else.  No records of their traditions in the Roman empire, though, for instance, there were always Jewish settlements in each Roman city.  The old Jewish section of Rome is right off Via Arenula today.

What is a wild claim, however, is that Jews were expelled, moved to the Roman empire and ended up all living in Latvia, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Czechoslovakia and, mostly Russia.

You see, you couldn’t move there then.  The Visigoths and even nastier people ran those places.  They weren’t part of the Roman empire, never were.  There is no record of Jews leaving Judea, no record of them arriving in the Roman Empire at the time claimed, no record of them living there and no record of them all heading out to Russia and Poland, where 90% of Europe’s Jews had lived for centuries.

There is no historical record of any of this.

There is, however, a historical record of a people from Russia called the Khazars who converted to Judaism and created a great empire nearly as large as the United States.  The “Jewish areas” of Russia and Europe were the eastern portion of Khazaria.

One could assume that all Jews in Russia or Poland, just as Helen Thomas said, were from there and had never been from Judea.  We can prove Jews lived there as Khazars.  We cannot prove Jews moved there from Judea.

Does this mean that Jews from that region who, after World War II, chose to move to Palestine were bad people?  No, of course not.  What it does mean is that they never came from there.  Is that important?

Only if the wild and insane claim that a convenient mythology allows one people to steal from another.

However, this is the nature of phony history, phony religion and mythology.

Jews from Russia and Poland look pretty much like everyone else from there.

Other points.  The most likely thing is that Palestinians were once Byzantine Christians and before that Jews.  Why?  There is no proof they came from anywhere else.  There is proof they have been where they are prettymuch forever.  There is also proof that people who lived there were, at one time, Jews, then Christians and eventually Muslims.  Why change religions?

Governments created incentives for people to change religions, some involved taxes, others involved serious persecution.

This religious persecution in Judea went on for centuries, Jews persecuting Christians and, later, Christians persecuting Jews.

This was long before Islam existed.

This is real history.

Before Muslims became “terrorists,” Jews claimed Christians were “terrorists.”

Then Christians said Jews were all “thieves” and ”mongrels” and had killed Christ.  Can we prove Christ existed?  Actually no, we can’t.

However, the Gospels, such as they are, most burned, some horribly mistranslated, are something of a record, much more of a record than the wild discussions of Moses and “mana” and being lost in Sinai for 40 years.

Would any of it stand up in court?  Not for a friggin’ minute!

So, where does this leave us?

Palestinians are probably, by genetic definition, if such exits, the only real Jews.

Most Jews are probably from ethnic groups pushed into Europe, no different than every other migration.  The idea of claimed “immunity” to two thousand years of historical resettlement, religious realignments and the total lack of either archaeological or rational written records as a basis of decades of warfare is insane.

We could just as easily be talking about the Phoenicians or Philistines or Hittites or Babylonians, the Greeks, the Ottomans or even Egyptians as having historical claim to Palestine.

Something we can come closer to proving is that a corrupt British politician named Balfour, loaded with gambling debts, wrote a short document to a wealthy and even more corrupt banker offering some kind of deal on land that he didn’t control, Britain had no right to, a “deal” more likely tied to the kind of political payoffs and blackmail used to push President Obama into his humiliating speech to the UN.

It is time that those that call themselves Israeli’s admit they are resettled Europeans like most of us here in America, taking advantage of a poorly armed and primitive population just as Britain, Spain and later the United States did in North America, like Europe did around the world during the colonial era, like one population did to another since time immemorial.
A few classes in Hebrew, discarding Yiddish traditions, doesn’t change history, it only erases heritage.

Supposedly “mechanisms” and “organizations” are in place, since 1945, to prevent such things.  A civil war in Libya was carefully orchestrated based on such mechanisms and organizations, an intervention under identical circumstances that exist in Israel or Syria.

But the United States is defending Israel and Russia is defending Syria.

Thus, the great world powers, such as they are, have maneuvered the world through a century of atrocity.

This time the United States is attempting to justify prehistoric barbarism of the Israeli occupation of Palestine using language carefully crafted by “advisors” with the ethical and moral authority of  the worst criminal elements of our time.  Use of force to dispossess a people is ethnic cleansing.  Separating people by walls in apartheid.  An armed enclosure filled with men, women and children is a concentration camp.

This is Palestine today, what is called the “State of Israel.”  This is why an American veto is important because the rest of the world sees the truth.

We are asked to endure a century of warfare and economic chaos because of the desire by some to validate bizarre mythologies that are little more than a veneer for something darker.

Israel isn’t about Jews.  Israel is just another issue, strong strangling the weak, the clever controlling the many through deception.

Because of Israeli control of media, a few square miles of sand, some stolen and built with senior citizen vacation condos, some farmed by Asian slaves, much still barren and inhospitable, land no American would park an abandoned tractor on, is costing America and Europe a century of economic survival, costing generations of lives, all based on, not just mythology but a continuing stream of carefully crafted lies.

Settlement?  Talks?

Based on?

There is only one clear set of fingerprints on 9/11, that of Israel and the Mossad.  You can’t mention 9/11 without Abe Foxman and the AntiDefamation League calling you an Antisemite.  Reporting on 9/11, the biggest controversy in American history censored all dissent, totally discrediting the mainstream media, long believed to be an Israeli controlled asset, not just believed, let’s go further.  Known.

Israel, their rich, loaded with bucks, controlling 40% of the world’s cash while Jews in Israel are unemployed and live in tents.  Israel itself has never been as hated, surrounded by enemies, with its “sworn allies,” Germany, Britain and America ready to knife her in the back.

Initial planning for 9/11 is put on PNAC (Project for a New American Century) a neocon/Israeli front group of social misfits and folks who spend their lives waiting for war crimes indictments.

But, wait a minute.  Don’t neocons hate Jews?  Aren’t neocons “white supremacists” who look on Jews as “mud people?”  Isn’t the Tea Party, funded by drug money and Koch/Israeli payoffs the biggest pack of Jew haters outside Cairo?

Something doesn’t fit anymore.  If this is the post 9/11 world Israel wanted, must they have lost their friggin’ minds?  Turkey wants them dead.  Saudi Arabia is, after years of silence, threatening the US over a potential veto of Palestinian statehood.

Israel’s ambassador to Egypt, not so long ago, welcomed to Cairo like a hero, has fled the country.

Libya’s oil cash will now be flowing into groups opposed to Israel, instead of the other way around.

Israel hates Obama but the GOP, drowning in Israeli cash, has fielded with most moronic presidential candidates in history.  Talk about being set up.

In America, being accused of Antisemitism is considered a badge of honor, almost a highway to public office.  A decade ago, you could lose your job as weather girl at a backwoods radio station if any Jew wanted you “gone,” perhaps replaced with an unemployed niece.

Look at Norway.  A maniac kills dozens, saying he did it for Israel.  Everything imaginable is done to make him look like he was drugged or hypnotized.  He is tied to Israeli groups in Britain, Israeli spy operation in Belarus and Poland, in fact every effort imaginable is made to make Israel seem like a terrorist state.

The choices?  Netanyahu is totally insane and will lead to the utter destruction of Israel by turning the entire world against it, bringing all attention to a small country that used to be able to present itself as the eternal victim, a country everyone felt sorry for.

Years of effort and hundreds of millions were spent supporting the Schindler’s List version of Israel, the Israel from the film Exodus.

Now Israel is viewed by some as a nation of troublemakers, by others as a version of apartheid South Africa and by ”conservatives” around the world as the bad part of Nazi Germany.  Real Conservatives have always admired Hitler, his hatred of international bankers, his crushing of labor unions, his belief in racial purity.

In fact, what used to be called “revisionism,” a rewrite of history making Hitler a hero has been replaced with a newer version that does make one valid point.  Much of our history of World War 2 and the era around it was written by Stalin, the biggest liar in the history of the planet.

What does this leave us with?  It leaves us with nothing, a vacuum, an empty history waiting for a new mythology, one that could be anything, Hitler the hero, Jews as Nazis, Roosevelt as a communist, Truman as a traitor, we hear all of it now, it fills the internet.

We lied about our history, that lie was exposed and we forgot how to tell the truth.

What does that do?  It only opens the gates for even better liars, something the internet has bred a generation of.

And, thus, we return to 9/11, the biggest lie of the century.

We have an official story that even the mentally challenged can’t believe.  Then we have another story, “the Jews did it.”

Are the Jews being set up?

Is Israel being targeted for destruction?

We are certainly seeing America, supposedly Israel’s defender, financially crushed.

What we don’t have is truth.  We have nothing we can believe.  We have decades of lies, our entire history, World War 1 and 2, believed by fewer and fewer.  Most Americans are willing to believe America became a dictatorship when Kennedy was murdered.  That is so obvious it takes little convincing.

At one time, all that was needed was to call someone an “Antisemite” or “conspiracy nut” and you could shut them up.

Of course that was before half a billion people had video cameras in their telephones so they could film UFOs and put it all on youtube.

What has been done?  Trust in government is gone.  Trust in history is gone.  Trust in leaders is gone.  Helplessness and anger are a disease spreading beyond the imagination of any virologist.

Long ago, good and bad, morality and evil were replaced with shades of grey called ‘lateralism.’

Now the myth of 9/11, more absurd than a giant UFO landing on the White House lawn, is infecting the world.  A question worth asking, are the “cardboard Lotharios,” Abe Foxman of the ADL and Bibi Netanyahu, people none of us really know much about, now increasingly a focus of hate and suspicion, real at all?

Are we supposed to remain stupid, confused, chasing our tails and turning on each other forever?

If you follow the news, getting past bikini shots of J-Lo and Kim Kardashian, open a few of the emails you get, all carefully tailored to convince Americans their president is secretly a terrorist planning to send armies of knife wielding Muslims into their homes, paid for by, oddly enough Israeli citizens living in the US working hand in hand with Americans who would throw every Jew they could find in a concentration camp and cheer while they wafted up the chimneys…..

Who would murder 3000 Americans as “street theatre?”

Then again, look at the news, things like this happen every day, maybe without the special effects but 3000 dead is considered nothing.

Human life, human freedom, human dignity has no value.

Democracy and representative government have long been a private joke.

90% of the world has no clean drinking water or electricity, this after all that science, all that “freedom” and all that talk.

Yes, something is very amiss.  Are we really asking the right questions?

Israel’s President Shimon Peres, right, raises a toast with newly appointed U.S. ambassador to Israel Daniel Shapiro during a ceremony introducing new ambassadors to the President at his Jerusalem residence, Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011.(AP Photo/Sebastian Scheiner)

by Alison Weir

In a recent speech before the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI), Ambassador Daniel Shapiro clarified what drives US policies:

“The test of every policy the Administration develops in the Middle East is whether it is consistent with the goal of ensuring Israel’s future as a secure, Jewish, democratic state. That is a commitment that runs as a common thread through our entire government.”

Shapiro went on to say: “This test explains our extraordinary security cooperation, our stand against the delegitimization of Israel, our efforts on Iran, our response to the Arab Spring, and our efforts on Israeli-Palestinian peace.”

It also explains a factor in the downward slide in American prosperity and standing in the world.

US funding of Israel and its weapons industry

Shapiro elaborated: ‘Israel will receive over $3 billion in U.S. funding for training and equipment in the coming fiscal year. This assistance allows Israel to purchase the sophisticated defense equipment it needs to protect itself, by itself, including the world’s most advanced fighter aircraft, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Our assistance has also helped boost Israel’s domestic defense industry.”

On top of this, Shapiro pointed out, “Congress, at the request of President Obama, provided $205 million to accelerate production and deployment of the Iron Dome short-range missile system, a project to which I devoted particular attention during my tenure at the White House.”

Shapiro failed to note that this system competes with American defense firms, causing still further job loss for Americans, who have a higher unemployment rate than Israel.

Shapiro said that one of his first visits as Ambassador to Israel was to see an Iron Dome battery deployed near Ashkelon, where he “had very moving visits with the victims of rocket attacks in Ashdod.” Palestinian rocket attacks have killed approximately 20 Israelis. There is no report that Shapiro has visited the victims of Israeli shelling attacks on Gaza, where over 1,400 have been killed.

Opposing international initiatives, undermining US needs

Shapiro continued: “The test of our policy – that it advances Israel’s status as a secure, Jewish, democratic state – also explains our commitment to vigorously battle against those who would attempt to isolate or delegitimize Israel in the international community.”

As a result, Shapiro said, the US withdrew from the South African conference on racism in Durban and vetoed UN efforts on Israel (which otherwise would have passed).

Currently, he said, the administration is “doing everything we can” to oppose the Palestinian bid for UN membership to come later this month. “We are taking our opposition to capitals around the world.”

This campaign is reminiscent of previous pro-Israel campaigns, including the original pressure brought by Israel partisans in 1947 on the UN General Assembly to pass a recommendation to give over half of Palestine to a Jewish state.

It could also be a major blow to the US.

Prince Turki al-Faisal, a member of the Saudi Royal Family who headed up its intelligence service for many years, has just published Veto a State, Lose an Ally, in which he warns that if the US vetoes Palestinian UN membership, “Saudi Arabia would no longer be able to cooperate with America in the same way it historically has.”

He writes that it would “provoke uproar among Muslims worldwide,” further undermining American relations with the Muslim world (over 1.2 billion people), “threaten regional stability,” and increase “the chances of another war in the region.”

In 1973 Saudi Arabia, which has been an extremely important US ally, issued a warning based on a similarly reasonable request (that Israel obey international law – see discussion below). When Henry Kissinger ignored it, the US was thrown into a major recession and thousands of Americans lost their jobs and homes.

Author and international attorney John Whitbeck writes that “the adverse consequences for the United States of blocking Palestine’s membership are dazzlingly obvious. An American veto would constitute a shotgun blast in both of its own feet, further isolating the United States from the rest of mankind and outraging the already agitated and unstable Arab and Muslim worlds (notably including Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey).

Since 120 nations have already recognized Palestine, such a veto would outrage countries all over the globe.

Policies on Iran based on Israeli concerns

Shapiro went on to say:

“The test of our policy – to advance Israel’s status as a secure, Jewish democratic state – explains our persistent efforts and the President’s determination to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

“Since 2009, the United States has led the world in imposing the toughest sanctions ever against Iran, through U.N. Security Council Resolution 1929, through the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions and Divestment Act, and through additional sanctions imposed by European and other partners beyond those mandated by the U.N. Security Council… We are working to increase pressure on Iran through additional means, and have taken no option off the table.

Twenty years ago similar pressure on Iraq created a humanitarian catastrophe in which, according to the World Health Organization, over 5,000 children under the age of five died each month from “embargo-related causes.”

Arab Spring actions predicated on Israeli interests

Shapiro explained that concerns for Israel also drive the Administration’s actions regarding the Arab Spring:

“The test of our policy explains President Obama’s original outreach to the Muslim world, and his response to the Arab Spring.

“Israel’s interests were not served by the deep anger felt toward the United States in many Muslim communities, and the President made clear that those who would accept his outstretched hand must do so knowing that the United States will remain a fierce defender of Israel’s legitimacy and call on others to build their own connections with Israel.

“As the unprecedented events of the Arab Spring have unfolded, we have recognized the opportunity presented by the possible emergence of more open, transparent, peaceful, and democratic governments, who will make better neighbors, while remaining vigilant about the risks these changes could present. We know the stakes for Israel are high, and in a situation where neither of us can control outcomes, we are working closely together to chart a common strategy.”

Shapiro said that US support for a “two-state solution” is also based on Israeli desires, explaining that he and the Administration are “convinced that a two-state solution is the only way to guarantee Israel’s future as a Jewish and democratic state.” Therefore, he said, the administration’s “vigorous pursuit of Israeli-Palestinian peace” also meets the pro-Israel test.

Need to bolster pro-Israel ties among Jewish Americans

Shapiro spoke of the close allegiance that most Jewish Americans feel for Israel, but expressed concern that “much research has shown that growing numbers of younger American Jews feel disconnected, or at best ambivalent, toward Israel. Valuable programs like Birthright have exposed many to this connection, but many more have not been reached.”

He said that “a stronger commitment to Zionist education for American Jewish youth could do much to strengthen bonds that we want to be even stronger in the next generation, but may not be if left untended.”

Helping Israeli finances even further

Shapiro said that “one of the most fruitful opportunities for deepening ties” between Americans and Israelis is in the economic sphere:

“There are approximately one dozen American-Israel Chambers of Commerce throughout the United States, based in New York, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles, and elsewhere. These organizations are run and organized by Americans who care deeply about the U.S.- Israel relationship and strive to facilitate U.S.-Israel business connections.”

Shapiro pointed out:

“In 2010 alone the U.S. imported $21 billion of Israeli goods and services; that’s 10 percent of Israel’s GDP. American companies and their representatives here directly employ about 60,000 Israelis; that’s fully 2 percent of Israel’s entire workforce. This figure does not include the many thousands more that are supported by American companies here as subcontractors or in downstream businesses.

“American companies have opened two-thirds of all foreign R&D facilities in Israel and brought in nearly 60 percent of all foreign direct investment. In 2011, American companies have acquired ten Israeli startups to the tune of $1.5 billion dollars, not just for their products, but to establish leading international R&D centers tapping into the greatest asset of Israel’s people, their brainpower. American-sourced venture capitalism provides more than half of all money for nascent technology companies to get off the ground.

“Just as other Diaspora communities are often in the lead in promoting economic ties with their countries of origin, many of these projects began because of Jewish-American ‘champions’ of corporate interaction with Israel.”

Ambassador Shapiro failed to mention that Israel’s current account balance is 29th in the world; the U.S. comes in at 196th.

1973 War and Shapiro’s personal ties to Israel

In his speech, Ambassador Shapiro recounted his personal history “for the insights it can give us about the connection of the American Jewish community to the U.S.-Israel relationship.” He stated:

“I am a proud member of our Jewish community in Washington, DC, active in a Conservative synagogue and the Jewish day school that my children attend and where my wife, Julie, worked for many years. And my profound respect for the State of Israel and its remarkable achievements stems from a lifetime of exposure to the extraordinary people who brought Theodore Herzl’s Zionist dream to life.”

Shapiro explained that his close attachment to Israel began in 1973 when he was four years old and his family spent a fall semester in Israel. They were there during the war in which Egypt and Syria tried to retrieve land that had been taken by Israel seven years before.

While Ambassador Shapiro didn’t go into this, there is a close US connection to the 1973 war, called by Israel and US media the “Yom Kippur War.”

Before and during this war, Saudi Arabia called on the US to pressure Israel to return the lands that it had taken and held since 1967, in violation of international law. Instead, Henry Kissinger arranged a massive airlift of US weaponry to Israel, saving Israel from losing the war. This support led to the oil embargo against the US that caused a deep depression and cost thousands of Americans their jobs.

As historian Donald Neff later wrote, this boycott, induced by Kissinger’s weapons to Israel, left “economies around the world shattered and many individuals living poorer lives.” Neff wrote that while “Kissinger admitted, ‘I made a mistake,’ skeptics might wonder whether it was a mistake, or wanton disregard of U.S. interests during a passionate effort to help Israel.”

Shapiro explained that the 1973 war had a major impact on his family:

“By the end of the war, and even more so, by the end of our stay, our family’s relationship with Israel had been utterly transformed, from a solid but light connection to the deepest of bonds. Throughout the remainder of my childhood, family dinner conversations turned easily to events in Israel, from the thrill of the peace with Egypt to the anguish of the Lebanon War [initiated by Israel; fatalities were approximately 25:1 Lebanese to Israelis]. The ample bookshelves in my parents’ home grew laden with studies in Zionism, Jewish history, and Israeli literature.

“A product of the Reform Movement, I nurtured my own connection to Israel primarily through summer camp experiences at the Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, an unlikely setting for some of the most innovative Jewish and Zionist education to be found anywhere.

“These experiences led me to spend half a year after high school in Israel on a Reform Movement program, living with an Israeli family in Jerusalem, studying at Hebrew Union College, traveling widely throughout the country, and volunteering on Kibbutz Yahel in the Arava.

“I returned for my sophomore year of college at Hebrew University, supplementing my studies with work as a waiter at the wedding hall in the Beit Knesset HaGadol and long walks in Rehavia, where my girlfriend – who is now my wife of 19 years – took an apartment.

“In the years since, I have made Israel, its history and people, its quest for peace and security in the Middle East, and its relationship with the United States, the centerpiece of my academic studies at Brandeis and Harvard, my work on Capitol Hill, and my service in the Clinton and Obama Administrations.”

Shapiro emphasized that in many ways his story is not unique, stating that “it is impossible to deny the special connection that most in the American Jewish community feel for Israel…. wherever they fall on the political spectrum, and whatever their views on American policy, Israeli policy or the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the vast majority of American Jews care deeply about Israel…”

Shapiro said that he is deeply honored that President Obama has entrusted him with the “task and responsibility of strengthening and deepening” US ties to Israel.

Shapiro concluded: “… as a committed Jewish American, with deep roots in the American Jewish community and warm bonds of affection with Israel, I will have an opportunity to draw on those associations to help make the U.S.-Israel relationship, strong as it is, even stronger in the years ahead.”
